Blood Donation Camp

The NSS unit of Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Blood Donation Camp on 15th Feb, 2020 in collaboration with Bhavna Welfare Foundation and GSVM medical college blood bank. In this camp overwhelming number of Volunteers of different departments of college participated with vivacity. 120 volunteers came forward to donate blood during the camp which included teaching, non-teaching staff and students donors. A primary hemoglobin screening was done of all female students before the collection of the blood. At the end 50 units of Blood was collected..

Annual Sports Meet

Jagranites manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse.Annual sports meet was organized at Jagran College from 29th Jan- 7th Feb 2020 where teams from Jagran College, JIM, JIMMC and JIDA participated in cricket, volleyball and athletics. B.C.A. team gave a clean sweep to others in both cricket and Volleyball tournament. Chhaya Pandey from BBA, bagged the trophy for best athlete in women category and Ashirvad Shukla from B.Com was awarded as the best athlete in men category. To rejuvenate college faculty and staff, two days were devoted for athletics and cricket match among them, where they not only showcased their sportsman spirit but made most out of this opportunity by reliving their childhood. Mr. Prakash Pandey and Mrs. Vidushi Sharma were awarded best athlete in this category.

In previous years from 22nd Jan- 2nd Feb 2018 Annual sports meet B.Com-I won the cricket tournament. Harshit from B.com-I was awarded the Man of the series trophy. SakshiDua received the trophy for best athlete in women category and Ashwani Yadav was awarded the best athlete in men category.

In the year 2017 Annual sports meet was organized from 28th January to 6th of February at Jagran College whereShashank Pal from BBA was awarded with the Man of the final Match trophy and Ayush Gupta from BBA was declared Man of the tournament. PragatiVerma received the trophy for best athlete in women category and ShivamKashyap from JIM was awarded the best athlete in men category. College students Harsh Adlakha, Rahul Harchandani, Bhawana Piplani, Sakshi Dua and Yashi Tripathi represented CSJM University at North Zone level by winning sports tournaments hosted by CSJM University Kanpur from 4th to 8th January 2017

Republic day Celebration

The 70th Republic Day of India was celebrated with gaiety and patriotic fervour at Jagran College amidst the foggy morning on 26th Jan 2020. The ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by Prof. J.N. Gupta (CEO, Jagran Education Foundation) accompanied by National Anthem.

Alumni Meet 2020

To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, 5th Alumni Meet of Jagran College was organized at college Ground on 11th Jan 2020. After an informal welcome by the Principal, the meet witnessed colours of joyful emotions and dazzling performances. More excitement was added in the evening with the announcement of Simran's name as Mr. and Neharika's as Ms.Alumni 2020.

Kalanjali –Annual Fest 2019

If dreams are wings, college is a runway to take off from. The innermost passions, the veiled strengths, the soft feelings like a poem harboring at the deepest space of a poet’s heart, all get perfect shape in a place called college. Kalanjali, 2019 organized from 7th- 14th Nov. 2019 was an opportunity to witness the young and ignited brains and hearts. There was a Tsunami of zeal and happiness all around. The three days long inter collegiate extravaganza hosted by the Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce was started with a delightful inauguration at the Laxmi Devi Auditorium with the lighting of lamps by the Honorable Chief Guest Dr. ArtiLalChandani, Principal of GSVM Medical College along with Shree YM Gupta, the Chairman of Jagran Group, Dr JN Gupta, CEO, Jagran Education Foundation, Dr MP Gupta, Director Jagran College and Dr. Asmita Dubey, Principal, Jagran College. Over 600 students from 25 prestigious degree colleges and professional institutes drenched in unprecedented energy performed in 23 competitions of literary, fine arts, theatre, dance and music categories in magnificent way.Jagran College was the overall winner followed by JIMMC as first runner-up. 

T-shirt Painting Competition

Drawing and painting department of Jagran college organised T-shirt painting competition on 1st Oct 2019.  The topic for the competition was Gandhi’s Vision. Akanksha Singh BA -I year, Prakhar Jain BBA-II year and DikshaKumari BA-I year bagged First, Second and Third prizes respectively..

Teacher’s Day Celebration

A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instill love for learning. To mark the birthday of great teacher &philosophyist, DrSarvapalliRadhakrishnan, Teachers Day was celebrated at Jagran College on 5th Sep,2019. Students welcomed all the faculty members with traditional method of tilak. The programme commenced with the SaraswatiVandana sung by the students followed by a beautiful dance performance and songs. The students also organized a number of fun games for the teachers which were thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated. The programme ended with cake cutting ceremony after which snacks were distributed among all. Faculty members were overwhelmed by the efforts and love shown by the students.

Independence day Celebration

A great day and a proud moment for every Indian.Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at Jagran College of Arts, Science & Commerce. The ceremony started in the college ground with faculty, students and staff.To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, Prof. J.N. Gupta (CEO, Jagran Education Foundation) unfurled the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom. Flag hoisting ceremony was done in the presence of Dr. M.P. Gupta (Director, JDC), Mr. S.P. Tripathi (Director, JIMMC), (Director, JIM), Mr. Ateeq Ahmed (Director JIDA), Dr. Divya Chaudhari(Director, JIM), Dr. Asmita Dubey (Principal, Jagran College).

International Yoga day Celebration

NSS unit of Jagran College celebrated the International Yoga day on 21st June 2019 at college premises in the presence of the college director, principal, teachers and students. Around 100 volunteers gathered with the eagerness to gain an insight about how indispensable yoga is. Volunteers were made to participate in number of asanas including kapalbhati, pranayam etc. Focusing on how we can improve our lifestyle by incorporating yoga in our day to day activities and acquire physical, mental and spiritual coordination.

Landscape Painting Competition

Drawing competitions are important for students as they make them work harder and try their best in the meantime. These competitions motivate them to express their views and explore their creativity through their Art works. A two days Landscape painting competition was organized in Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce for students from various streams on 26th Dec 2018. College building was the model of their competition. All the students participated with full enthusiasm. Their drawings were judged on the basis of perspective in line and colour and composition and presentation. AishwaryaGoswami, Nandini Singh and ShashwatSahu bagged First, second and third position respectively.

Excursion Trip to Lucknow

A group of 50 students from BA II year and BA III year went to Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh on 22nd Dec,2018. Led by BA Faculty the trip commenced at 8:00AM from college campus by bus. It was a fun filled journey lasting for about two-and-a-half hours.The first destination in Lucknow was Bara Imambara, housing Bhool-Bhlaiya (labyrinth) and Shahi mosque. Built in 1784 by NawabAsaf-ud-Daula, Bara Imambara is said to be the world’s largest arched room without pillars. The students  were awe struck with the grandeur of Bara Imambara. They posed for photographs with the magnificent structure in the backdrop. The next destination was Regional Science City, where they learnt many secrets about science. Students also enjoyed 3D movie at science city

Eco Town Fete

A FETE Eco Town, was held to promote power of REUSE, RECYCLE and REDUCE!! On the campus of Jagran College on 30th Oct 2018. A small team of dedicated volunteers set up the various stalls the evening before and on the morning of the fete. It was a first-time experience for the students, but with their tireless energy, it was an impressive and indomitable team. There were around 30 stalls of decorative and recycled products, food and games. All the stalls were decorated colourfully. The fete was inaugurated at 12:00 noon with the Ganesh Vandana sung by Ayush followed by a beautiful garba dance by a group of 24 students. SP South Mrs.RaveenaTyagi, chief guest added great positive energy to the students and appreciated their initiative. Mayor Kanpur Smt. Pramila Pandey graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. The fete Eco-Town achieved its very noble purpose of creating awareness by putting an exhibition and market of recycled products and raising a fund to brighten up the Diwali of those helping hands, the support staff of Jagran College. It proved to be a very effective learning tool in long term business planning through fun filled activity. .

Celebration of Surgical Strike Day

29th Sep,2018 Following the ‘University Grants Commission’s advisory to all universities to celebrate September 29 as ‘Surgical Strike Day’, NSS unit of Jagran College organized a wonderful event to celebrate the second anniversary of surgical strike carried out by Indian Army across the LOC. Mr.VirendraSahu,Asst.Prof.Dept. of Psychology unveiled the true Story of surgical strike in a thematic and very lively way through his presentation. Students from different branches glorified the heroic deeds of the Indian Army by appealing posters, and expressing their feelings through slogans and letters.

Umbrella Painting Competition

Jagran College students thrilled with the gorgeous season and the misty clouds by participating in Umbrella painting Competion on 24th Aug, 2018. 34 teams comprising 2 students for each team gave vent to their imagination and aesthetic exploration creating magical expressions on these cute umbrellas. The competition was judged by MrAteeq Ahmad Director, JIDA. He praised the students for their creativity and adjudged Samragi Tiwari and Utkarsh Garg (BCA I) as IInd runner-up, Katyani Mishra and JyotiKumari (BA-I) as Ist runner up and Neharika Shukla and Anchal Bhatia (BA-III)as winner. SwalpiBajpai and ShivangiGautam(BA-III) were given consolation prize..

Kalanjali-Annual Fest 2018

A three day colourful and memorable intercollegiate cultural fest “KALANJALI 2018” was diligently organized with enthralling shows and amazing competitions from 19th- 21st Feb 2018. Over 700 students from 25 prestigious degree colleges and professional institute participated in the vibrant and exuberant fest. There were total 24 competitions in the literary, fine arts, theatre, dance and music categories. Prof.  J. Ram Kumar from IIT Kanpur graced the occasion as the chief guest. Jagran College was the overall winner followed by MahilaMahavidyalaya as first runner-up. 

Music Competition

MAUSIQUEE-A musical competition unveiling talents of young budding stars was organized with association of Indian Idol Academy on 17th Nov, 2017. 10 teams of solo and 6 teams of duet participated in the competition. Ayush, Manas and Shivangi stood 1st, 2nd& 3rd in solo category and Krati&Shipra were the winners in the duet category.

Diwali Celebration

Diwali Celebration: From darkness to the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds and brings us closer to divinity. This thought came alive when a beautiful initiative by students of Jagran College took place by celebrating Diwali at laxmidevi auditorium in a unique way on 16th Oct, 2017.  They celebrated the occasion by bringing light and spark on the faces of support staff members through loving and caring gestures, giving them gifts and honour and bringing them into lime light by sharing stage with them. Shri Y.M Gupta (Chairman, Jagran Group) overwhelmly appreciated the students and gave a memento to Neharika Shukla and also praised PrateekPehlajani and Shivangi for taking this initiative. He said, women of today are a multi faceted personality with the power of benevolence, adjustability, integrity and tolerance. The role given to women in a society is a measuring rod and true index of its civilization and cultural attainment.

Fine Arts Competitions

On13th& 14th of Oct 2017 college students exhibited their creativity and power of expression by the splash of colours during the fine arts competitions: like Poster making (Child Abuse, Misuse of mobile and Internet), Arindam stood 1st, Shivangi 2nd, Sakshi and Anshika stood 3rd in this event. Cartooning (Dream of Youth), Aishwarya and Aarushi won 2nd prize collectively. On the spot painting (Art of Living and Independent India growth Story) ShivangiGautam, Arindam achieved 1st and 2nd position consequently and Deepika&Vaishali jointly achieved 3rd position. In Rangoli (Traditional Rangoli), Monica won 1st position, two groups achieved 2nd and 3rd position: Priya, Kajal and Anshul, Shivangi won 2nd position and Shalini, Sanskriti and Deeksha, Sanjoli won 3rd position.

Workshop on Meditation

Healthy mind and body is key to a happy life. So it is necessary for everyone to have a healthy mind and body both. Regular practice of meditation brings peace within and helps us in improving our quality of life. Keeping all these in views, one-Day meditation workshop was organized on 10th Oct 2017 at Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce campus for students in association with Heartfulness. Speaker Shri Shiv Kumar addressed the students and briefed them about the benefits of meditation and yoga. He also told students that meditation is the art of looking inside and discovering one’s own inner being. Meditation leads us not only to totally new inner experiences, but helps us also to transform our day-to-day life into a better, more meaningful and more fulfilling existence.

Tree Plantation and International Literacy Day

NSS Unit of Jagran College organized various events at college to promote social service and awareness: A Tree plantation program on 20th July, 2017, International Literacy Day celebrated on 8th Sep 2017, through different activities like sapling plantation, poster making and slogan writing, a rally was also flagged off with banners to encourage students.

Voter Awareness Programme

A voter awareness program was organized in association with FICCI Ladies Organisation on 04th Feb, 2017 to motivate young voters to cast their vote judicially and actively. The program included different categories of competitions such as street play, poster making/slogan writing competition. The participants were felicitated with cash prize and certificates. Jagran College team won first prize in the street play, the winning team later on presented their play at different colleges of the city namely GHSIMR, PSIT, Christ Church, DAV, VSSD and DGPG College to further mobilize youth for the cause. The competitions were judged by the FICCI women association members, Mrs. Ritu Gupta, Mrs. Arti Gupta, Mrs. Anjali Agarwal, Mrs. AnuradhaVarshney, Mrs. MridulDalmia and Mrs. NaliniSanwal.

Workshop on ‘Emergency First Aid’

Jagran college of Arts, Science and Commerce with association with Inner Wheel Club, Kanpur East organized a workshop on ‘Emergency First Aid’ on 27th Sep, 2016. Dr Sunil Gupta and Dr Raju Kedia discussed the objectives of the workshop emphasizing the importance of First Aid and the role each one can play in saving a life.  They also encouraged the audience to use this opportunity to learn the basic First aid measures. The workshop included sessions on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR, an emergency life-support procedure. It includes artificial respirationand manual cardiac massage. Both these procedures are applied to prevent irreversible brain damage or death in the case of cardiac arrest. Artificial respiration is a life saving method used to restore breathing to a person whose breathing has stopped. The aim of external cardiac massage is to cause the heart to pump blood to the other parts of the body. It should be started simultaneously with artificial respiration in a victim whose heart has stopped beating (as made out by an absent pulse in the neck or groin). They also told about burns, choking, drowning, head injuries, bleeding, and fracture. The demonstration was done on dummies for all the topics.
