Student and Faculty Development Program

Development of Human Resource as the prime objective of Education led to the conception and organising of students and faculty development programs at Jagran College on 16th Sep, 2019.The Resource person Dr.Ranjita Gupta from IBS, Gurugram made students aware about the do’s and don’ts for effective communication during a two hour interactive SDP session.She addressed the Faculty members in another two hour FDP session where various challenges of present day education system and the increased role of technology in our personal and professional life were openly discussed. She emphasised upon the innovative teaching techniques to keep a pace with changing needs and expectations of students. Few case studies were also discussed where faculty members came up with very effective presentations and solutions. The event came to a conclusion with the vote of thanks by DrAsmita Dubey, Principal, Jagran College.

Inter-Collegiate Poetry and Tag Line Competition

Hindi is our natural expression. On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Jagran college organized two competitions Tag Line and Poem Recitation to commemorate the importance of our National Language on 14thsep 2019. In these competitions, students of JDC, JIMMC and JIM participated. In tag line competition, the contesting students had to write a tag line for the purpose of promotion of their respective institute. In Poetry competition students recited their self composed on any social issue in Hindi language. A total of 24 students participated in these competitions. Honorable chief guest, Dr. Shiv Kumar Dixit, Ex HOD, Hindi Dept., DBS College adjudged Jyoti Singh(JIMMC) first, Divya Shukla(JIMMC) second, and Shreyanshi Shukla (JDC) third in poem competition and Ritik Krishnan(JIMMC) first, Anjali Yadav(JDC) second and Aditya Tiwari(JDC) third in Tag Line competition. While on the one hand the students showed their writing and thoughtful talent in the program, on the other hand, all the people present in the auditorium were mesmerized by listening the speech of respected Shri Shiv Kumar Dixit ji. His amazing art of incorporating many important facts in the layers of history, with such ease and limited time and words, highlighting the importance of Hindi language, amazed and delighted everyone.

Activity on Six Thinking Hats

UDAAN BBA Club organized an activity SIX THINKING HATS.Students explored and expressed various issues and their different dimensions on 12th Sep 2019. This involved rigorous hard work, team effort and research in the process of competing with each other. There were total nine teams comprising six members, representing six aspects of the topic symbolically using caps of Blue, green, white, yellow, black and red colours. Each colour represents a different type of thinking. It is a notion involving six imaginary hats to help with decision-making. Each hat signifies a role that each wearer has to play.Dr. ReshmaRajani, Dr. Manisha Gupta and Dr. K.V.K. Singh adjudged AishwaryaMotwani& team as winner, Shresth Agarwal & team as first runner up and AishwaryaGoswami& team and Ichchha Arora& team as tie for second runner up.

Educational Trip to Stock Exchange, Kanpur

An educational trip for 1st and 2nd year M.Com. students was conducted to stock exchange on 6th Sep, 2019. The objective of this visit was to guide the students effectively about the fundamentals and practical application of Stock Trading in cash and trading through NSE & BSE terminal.

Industrial Visit to Pepsico, Hardoi

An industrial visit to Pepsico, Hardoi under Varun Beverages Pvt. Ltd. was organized by Jagran College for BBA –III sem students on 4th Sep, 2019. VARUN BEVERAGES PVT. LTD. was an elaborate affair with over 5000 workers and extreme regulations. The group of students were split in two to have a more interactive session where the student professionals learned the process of production and quality checkups of carbonated drinks and mineral water.

Industrial Visit to Frontier Alloy Ltd.

Industrial visit were organized for BBA final and second year students to FRONTIER ALLOY LIMITED, Kanpur on 3rd Sep, 2019. This visit facilitated students not only in terms of knowledge but added great memorable experiences.

Workshop on Time Management

A workshop on Time Management was organized on 20th Aug 2019, where DrAradhana Gupta, a noted clinical psychologist interacted with the students and told them if they learn proper use of their time, energy and resources towards a fixed goal,  success is inevitable.

Seminar on Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray “The Father of Chemical Research”

On the auspicious occasion of 158th birth anniversary of "Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray", the father of chemical research, a seminar was organised in association with VIGYAN BHARATI, Kanpur Prant on 2nd Aug, 2019. The significant words of our respected guests Dr.SuneelMishra,Dr. D.S Bag, Dr. Amar Srivastava not only inspired the students but also ignited their spirits to give their contribution effectively in the field of science.

National Seminar on Indian Economy at Crossroads

One day national seminar was organised by Jagran College of Arts,Science and Commerce in Association with Indian Accounting Association on the theme -Indian Economy at Crossroadson 12th Feb, 2019. Dr.Neelima Gupta, honourable Vice Chancellor of CSJM University graced the occasion as Chief Guest and shared her valuable insights with a blissful gesture. Keynote speaker Prof.V.K.Shrotryia, Delhi School of Economics and other distinguished resource persons: Prof. Prashant Kumar BHU,CA AvinashMehrotra and Dr.Devlina Chatterjee ,IIT-K added great value to the event by sharing their views on theme relevant topics. On this occasion a special issue of Jagran Journal of Commerce and Economics was released by Chairman, Jagran Group Shri Y. M. Gupta and other dignitaries.

Workshop on DNT’s Gaming Technology

BCA department of Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a workshop on DNT’s Gaming Technology on 4th Feb, 2019. 127 students participated in the workshop which was conducted by Mr Naveen (Game developer and web developer) and MrAlok Dubey (Game developer, IIT Kanpur). Speakers focused on game based learning which provides a promising new pedagogy, allowing learners to proceed at their own pace. They are not just for fun but are highly educational, hone problem solving skills and promote empathy.

Workshop on- Personality Development and Grooming Session

Jagran college of Arts, Science and Commerce in association with IBM Business School organized a personality development and grooming session for B.Com and BBA students on 29th Jan, 2019. The workshop was taken by Dr. Vikram Singh, who started it with a very motivational story of Karsanbhai Patel and Kiran mazumdar, followed by a discussion on The Self, one’s desires, dreams, passions and motivations. The next activity was some interesting games where the students were able to identify themselves with the activity. Overall, it was an effective session, the students gained a lot of insights about how to set and achieve goals.

Workshop on “National Academic Depository”

Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce for the benefit of Commerce and Management students organised a workshop on “National Academic Depository” in association with SEBI on 21st Dec,2018. The workshop created awareness about the following things: Understanding investment basics (power of compounding, risk & return, investment principles). Awareness about the Securities market and various Regulatory bodies, investments in shares/securities/debt/mutual funds/gold etc and the Collective Investment Schemes/Chain marketing schemes etc. Speakers for the event were Mr. Naveen Saxena (Asst Director, North Zone, SEBI), Mr Ankit Sharma (National Services Depository Ltd) and Mr Narendra Dev (National Services Depository Ltd).

Science Exhibition

“Kautuhal” a science exhibition, an Effort to explore the world of Science and Technology through Working and Non Working models, Posters and Power Point Presentations was held, wherein B.Sc and BCA students expressed their creative ideas on the topic Energy Conservation and Contribution of Indian Scientists on 23rdoct 2018. Students showcased static and working models which can be used for learning various scientific concepts on energy conservation. The objective was not only to inculcate a scientific attitude and research-mindedness but also showcasing their talents on creativity and innovation.

Mr. Arun Pathak(MLC) graced the occasion as a chief guest and encouraged the students for showcasing and enlightening exhibition. Dr. Sugandha Tiwari (Associate Prof, Botany, DG College), DR A K Agnihotri(Vice Principal, BND College), Dr. Neerja Gupta(Ex Dept Head, Chemistry, AND Collge, Dr Anil Yadav(UIET) and Dr Anil Kumar Singh(JIM) acted as judge for the event. They adjudged PrakharVerma& Team as a winner, Ankit Pandey & Team on second position and Palak Bajaj & Team on third position in Model Presentation. In Poster Presentation Riya Verma and Mradalini Mishra bagged first position, Shivangisingh and Shraddha Awasthi second position and PallaviKhemka and Anuradha Yadav third position. Khyati Shukla, Prateek Pandey and Aaru Sinha secured first, second, third place respectively in Power Point Presentation.

GK Quiz Screening

Screening round for GK Quiz was conducted at Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce by Jaipuria Institute of Management. Students from various streams participated in the quiz on 8th Oct 2018.  Samarth Nigam(BCAIII) and  Abhishek Arora (BCAIII) scored first position and won a gift card of 2500 rupees each along with certificate,  Ravi Pratap Singh (BCA-III) and  Himanshu Pandey(BCA-III) scored second position won certificate and pen drive to both the team members and  Tanya Gupta(BCA-III) and Swati Singh(BCA-III) scored third position won the certificate and chance to participate for second round. The event was coordinated by Dr. HemaRohra and Dr. ReshmaRajani.

Industrial Visit at Ganesha Polytex Ltd.

An industrial visit to Plastic recycle industry GaneshaPolytex Ltd was organized for BBA –V sem students on 6th Oct 2018. 45 students visited to GaneshaPolytex Ltd to understand current market scenarios, latest demanding technologies and criteria.

Guest lecture on GST

A guest lecture on “Goods and Service Tax” was organized on 4th Oct, 2018 for M.Com, BBA, B.Com, BA (Eco) students at Laxmi Devi Auditorium headed by guest speaker Mr. KushalMohta, Regional Manager, Endeavor Careers. The main purpose of Guest lecture was to understand the concept of GST and its impact on common people. He shared the importance and reason for implementing GST by Govt of India.

Inter-Collegiate Debate Competition-2018

On the occasion of Hindi Divas, Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized an inter-collegiate debate competition at Laxmidevi auditorium of the college on 14th Sep 2018. The topic of the debate was “Hindutva is not a religion but a way of life.” Dr. Vijay Laxmi Trivedi, (Ex. Principal, AND College), DR. Rajendra Rao (eminent Novelist), and Shri Krishna Tripathi (Novelist,Writer) were the members of the jury. They adjudged MaazAlam from PPN College as first, Prince Kumar Singh from DBS College as second while there was a tie between Jyoti Singh from JIMMC and Raghav Shukla from Jagran College for the third position.

Activity on Exploring the Developer

An event “Exploring the Developer” by TECH BUZZ -The Activity Club of BCA students was organized on 13thsep 2018. It was an inclusive and comprehensive activity involving all the BCA students during the Three rounds testing their subject knowledge objectively through a set of well framed MCQ’s in the first round, the second round addressed the application aspect by making them involve into coding and programming and the final and deciding round helped them assess their personality related traits and helped them groom the same with the help of expert panelists through mock interview. Karam Singh bagged first position, PreetikaAgnihotri second position and Akash Pandey third position respectively.

AD MAD SHOW Competition

The newly formed Activity Club of BBA students “UDAAN” organised an Intra BBA AD MAD SHOW Competition on 25th Aug 2018. It was an advertisement making competition where students showcased their creativity in marketing products and services. 8 teams participated in the event and came up with some wonderful jingles & advertisements to sell their products/services. The winners of the activity were BBA-I won first position, BBA-III second position and BBA-II third position

All India Essay Writing Competition

An all India essay writing competition are held yearly at Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce in association with Shri Ramchandra Mission (SRCN) on the topic like “A mind all logic is like a knife all blade; it makes the hand bleed that uses it” on 23rd Aug, 2018. Students from various streams M.Com, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.A., and B.Sc participate and express interesting views.

Guest Lecture on Challenges, Opportunities and Distractions of College Life

A special session on “Challenges, Opportunities and Distractions of College life” by Dr.GaneshShankar,Psychiatry Dept. GSVM Medical College ,Kanpur on 20th Aug, 2018. He gave a general overview of various problems associated with the challenges and distraction in a student’s life. He also highlighted the importance of training of mind on four domain- personal, social, academic and leisure time activity

National Creativity Aptitude Test

To judge the student’s creative thinking and logical reasoning 7th National Creativity Aptitude Test 2018 (Round 1) organized by ‘International Forum For Excellence In Higher Studies (IFEHE) was conducted in Jagran College of Arts Science and Commerce on 17th Feb, 2018 in which 42 students of BA, B COM, BBA and BCA course participated.

Workshop on Income Tax Awareness

A workshop on Income Tax Awareness was conducted on 10th Nov 2017 by Mrs. Garima Chaudhary(Additional commissioner, Income tax).She gave valuable inputs regarding income tax and motivated the audiences to pay taxes.

Intra College Debate Competition-2017

An Intra college debate competition was held on the topic “Youth can fight against corruption in governance and bring about transparency with ethical values”2nd Nov, 2017.  Niharika, Garima&Raghav bagged 1st , 2nd& 3rd prizes respectively which were sponsored by Central Bank of India.

Symposium on Brandology

Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized the technical Symposium “BRANDOLOGY” at Laxmi Devi Auditorium on 21stapril, 2017. It was unique and one of its kind as it brought together an amalgamation of 150 students from Jagran College of BBA and BCA streams in the guidance of the faculty from Jagran Institute of management to showcase the spirit of knowledge through innovation at the same podium.  

The symposium on Brands- BRANDOLOGY aims to create a platform for students to gain insight from the successful brands so as to learn from the mistakes of the brand that have become obsolete with time. The symposium on brands covers the wide spectrum of brands of the past, present and future. It aims at providing a platform to young aspiring minds to explore, research and share findings of their understanding of brands that have made a mark in the past but have failed to continue their journey of success, and brands that are dominating as of now, and explore the plausibility of those brands that have the potential of emerging as big players in near future.

The event started with the welcome speech given by DrNandita Verma, faculty of Jagran Institute of management. The day was structured around best four research presentations by BBA students on the topics related to Black Berry, Himalaya Baby Products, Big Bazaar and Disney.

BCA students after their one month training gave presentation on their websites on Job Portal, Image Cryptography, Social Media and Online Jewellery. 

A book titled “BRANDOLOGY “ was also released by Mrs. Ritu Gupta (Vice Chairperson, JEF) and Dr. J N Gupta (CEO, JEF). BRANDOLOGY the mega event eventually becomes a way to showcase your talent by having deep understanding of how business work.

Inter Collegiate Quiz Competition

An Inter collegiate quiz competition was held at Jagran College of Arts, Science and commerce on 7th Dec, 2016 in which various teams of various college: Jagran Institute of Management, Jagran Institute of Management and Mass Communication, Jagran Institute of Digital Animation, MahilaMahavidalaya, Dayanand Academy of Management Studies, Armapore P G College, DrVirendraSwaroop Institute of Computer Studies participated. There were 2 teams of 2  participants from each college. They enthusiastically took part in exciting rounds like rapid fire, audio visual rounds based on various subjects. The quiz master prepared a number of interesting questions that tested every aspect of their knowledge. The winners of the activity were:Mohd. Vakas Ansari &Mohd. Shafak from Dayanand Academy of Management Studies were first, PushkarRathi&PurusharthRastogi from Jagran Institute of Digital Animation second and Yash Arora & Ajay Kumar from Jagran Institute of Management and Mass Communication were on third position.

Workshop on Java Technology

Jagran College of Arts, Science and commerce organized a two day workshop on ‘Java Technology’ for BCA students 5th Oct 2016. The workshop was started by the smart introduction given by Mr. Ashish Mishra Trainer of H.P.E.S. and R.C.P.L. He explained the concepts of Java, Programming Paradigms with Java, Graphics programming. The students actively participated in the seminar. In this session the student’s doubts were also cleared by expert hands. Dr. M.P. Gupta (Director), Dr. Asmita Dubey (Principal) faculty and students of BCA department were present on the occasion.

Workshop on Grapho Skill- Likhega India

A two day workshop on Graphoskill- likhega India was organized on 14th& 15th of September 2016. The resource person Mr. Rajesh Jauhari, head of dept. at institute of Graphology, RachanaSausad Mumbai and a renowned handwriting analyst discussed varied dimensions of graphology and explained how people can make use of pen and paper to distress themselves and boost their confidence 165 students participated in theworkshop with great interest learn this skill.

National Seminar on “Black Money And Indian Economy”

A UGC Sponsored National Seminar On the topic “Black Money And Indian Economy”  was organized by Commerce and Economics departments of the college on 24th Nov’ 2012 .Very well known Prof.B.P.Singh,Chairman Delhi School of Professional Studies  And Research graced the occasion as chief guest and resource person and Prof.Arunkumar,Chairman and Prof. ,Economics Studies and Planning Centre ,JNU delivered the keynote address very learned and eminent people from all over the country from academia participated and presented their diverse views on the topic near about 200 delegates from the different colleges of the country participated in the seminar . THE seminar was a great success and provided immense opportunities to delegates, collegefaculty, staff and students with respect to learning, knowledge and exposure .one of the biggest achievement of the seminar is publication of seminar proceedings in the formof Jagran Journal Of Commerce And Economics” which has laid thefoundation  of regular research work and publication by the college .
